Dr. Friedrich Mendler is a Project Lead at Fraunhofer ISE within the Department of Hydrogen Technologies, leading work on the German hydrogen flagship project "TransHyDE-Systemanalyse." He developed HYSCOPE, a spatially resolved optimisation model for hydrogen systems, and is part of the research team across numerous projects related to hydrogen infrastructure, imports, and energy system analysis.
Friedrich is currently undertaking a guest researcher position at AIST in Japan, enhancing HYSCOPE with PtX and CO₂ technologies. His work bridges advanced modelling with practical hydrogen infrastructure planning for the energy transition.
